Ayia Napa Triathlon 2021 update

As the event is only a few weeks away, please read below some important information.

  • All three distances (Middle distance, Triathlon & Sprint Triathlon) are rescheduled to take place on the same day. 31st of October 2021. The decision to change the initial plan of a 2-day event to 1-day event was taken after discussions with the local authorities and other institutions involved. The main reason and a prerequisite for the event to happen is to limit the duration as much as possible. The schedule can be found on the event website at: https://ayianapatriathlon.com/schedule/
  • There will be no live briefing before the event, but you can find all the information you need to participate on the event website.

Ayia Napa Triathlon rescheduled event options

2020 and the first half of 2021 has been a less-than-ideal period for athletes and race organisers. The pandemic has turned everything upside down with no way to predict the returning of normalcy.

We as many other race organisers have had to reschedule our events into the fall. We have an approved protocol from the Ministry of Health and according to all indications Ayia Napa Triathlon 2021 (30/31 Oct.) will go ahead.

We have decided to give the choice of all our registrants in the canceled events:

Ayia Napa Triathlon 2020 and

Ayia Napa Triathlon March 2021

To confirm their interest in participating in:

  1. Option 1: Ayia Napa Triathlon – October 30/31, 2021
  2. Option 2: Defer their slot to Ayia Napa Triathlon in March 2022. The exact date of the 2022 event will be announced after the 2021 event is completed.

We will appreciate it if you reply to this communication by the 20th of September 2021, stating your preference. After the 20th of September your registration will be considered cancelled.

Because of the pandemic a lot has change in the way the races are staged and what is expected by the athletes, we draw your attention to the following:

  1. The COVID-19 guidance for safe racing.
  2. The CyprusFlightPass required by all passengers who plan to travel to Cyprus.

We will also post any important information at the news and updates of the event website.

We would like to thank everyone in advance for the great support and understanding as we continue to work diligently to deliver a safe and secure event.

Ayia Napa Triathlon rescheduled

Ayia Napa Triathlon (was 20-21 Mar 2021, now 31-31 Oct 2021) – rescheduled.

Ayia Napa Triathlon is our flagship event and traditionally is organized every March. Since 2014 the event has been the biggest triathlon event in Cyprus.

In 2020 we were forced to cancel the race entirely due to the general lockdown applied in Cyprus and hoped that everything will be back to normal by March 2021.

However, due to the current situation of COVID-19 in Europe, we have decided to move the event later in the year hoping that the conditions will allow the event to take place even with some restrictions and measures. The 2021 edition has been rescheduled to 30,31 October 2021.

All registered athletes of the Ayia Napa Triathlon 2021 and all deferred from 2020 event, will be automatically transferred to the rescheduled event. All athletes can also defer their registration to 2022 edition if they so wish. The exact date of the 2022 event will be announced later in 2021.

In preparation for the next event, Nireas Triathlon is carefully reviewing plans that will adhere to the situation surrounding COVID-19.

We would like to thank everyone in advance for the great support and understanding as we continue to work diligently to deliver a safe and secure event
